Takaaki Nakahama-sensei ~ "Grandfather" of Memphis Kendo Association

Pictured above is Takaaki Nakahama-sensei, Kendo Kyoshi 7.dan, of Iwakuni, Japan --- the Grandfather of Memphis Kendo.  He passed away untimely at age 44 due to cancer in 1989.

The "mon" (family crest) seen on Sensei's dodai in the picture above is that of a Lotus Leaf:
